Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin has been ruled out for the remainder of the NBA Playoffs due to a toe injury sustained in Friday night’s 111-106 win over the Utah Jazz in Game 3.

Marc J. Spears has the team’s official statement.

Griffin’s injury likely occurred in the second quarter after the power forward scored a layup in transition.

According to the team, Griffin will be re-evaluated when the Clippers return to Los Angeles on Tuesday. Griffin was averaged 21.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game at the time of the injury. It will be a tough one to get over but the Clippers have been in this position before. In last season’s first round series against the Trail Blazers the Clippers lost Griffin to a quad injury in Game 4 – they went on to lose that series. Now, leading the Jazz 2 games to 1 we’ll have to see if the supporting cast can step up and make up for the superstar’s absence.
